Gaming Review: Hiveswap Act 1
by Bryan Scheidler
In today’s gaming world it is easy to get caught up in the spectacle of the big name gaming titles like Destiny 2, the latest Call of Duty, or Overwatch and there is nothing wrong with that. I enjoy playing all those games immensely, but sometimes I need something different. Enter HIVESWAP Act1, an episodic adventure game developed by What Pumpkin Games. The game is the brain child of Andrew Hussie and Cohen Edenfield and exists in their Homestuck universe. If you grew up playing these kind of point/click adventure games you will immediately be sucked in. The game play is relaxing and the writing is hilarious, two things that keep me coming back to it on a daily basis.
For those of you new to point/click adventure games you should know this genre has a long history of amazing games, some of the greatest cult classic games ever made are from point/click adventure genre. There is a reason fans will continuously go back and play games like Day of the Tentacle or the Monkey Island series: great storytelling with fun relaxed game play. HIVESWAP lives up to this legacy and in many cases surpasses it with a simple concept that is executed perfectly.
