 Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier for Younger Players

 El Segundo, Calif. (June 28, 2018) – America and Canada, it’s time to Duel! Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KONAMI) is hosting the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) North America World Championship Qualifier (WCQ) and North America Dragon    Duel World Championship Qualifier on June 29 – July 1 in Fort Worth, Texas.  Everything’s bigger in Texas, and the level of competition at this year’s WCQ events will be truly massive, as Canadian and American Duelists gather at the Fort Worth Convention Center for a throw down of Texan proportions! For thousands of Duelists, this two-day tournament competition represents the end goal in a year-long race to the Championship title.  The main events are only open to Duelists who successfully earned their invite to compete over the course of the 2017-2018 season, and the ultimate prize is now at stake: the chance to win your way to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship in Japan this August.

The North America WCQ and North America Dragon Duel WCQ are the most intense, most hard-fought, and most prestigious tournaments of the Dueling year.  Every WCQ sees celebrated stars return to take another shot, while new heroes are minted in the heat of competition.  Both WCQ winners will receive paid travel and accommodations to Japan, along with a bevy of prizes and the title of “North America Champion 2018.” Top finishers in the North America WCQ will also receive travel, accommodations, and an invitation to compete in the World Championship.  Runners-up in each WCQ earn a ton of exciting rewards to take home, and everyone in the main event receives a 2018 WCQ Game Mat and 2018 WCQ Card Sleeves to commemorate the achievement of participating in the grandest tournament on the continent.

Duelists who haven’t earned their invite to the North America WCQ or the North America Dragon Duel WCQ yet can still qualify by competing in Last Chance Qualifiers on Friday, June 29 beginning at 12:00 p.m. Registration for the last LCQ will close at 5:00 p.m. The first Dragon Duel LCQ will be scheduled for 12:00 p.m. and the second at 2:00 p.m. the same day.

Pre-registration for the North America WCQ will run from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29 and registration will continue promptly at 7:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 30.  As an added incentive to pre-register for the World Championship Qualifier on Friday, Duelists will receive one blind pack Yu-Gi-Oh! branded die. Debuting in North America for the first time, inside the blind pack will be one of seven different dice based on the seven Millennium Items!  Players will use their own constructed Decks built for Advanced Format competition throughout the entire Championship. A full array of Public Events will also be offered on Saturday and Sunday, including 2019 Regional Qualifiers, Dragon Duel Tournaments for players born 2006 or later, Ultimate Duelist Series Qualifiers, 3 vs. 3 Team Dueling, ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!!, Win-A-Mat, Sealed Starter Deck and Structure Deck, Duelist League, Yu-Gi-Oh! Day, and Battle City tournaments. Lastly, players can Duel each other with a special Mega-Duel! Played with life-sized game mats and giant cards, Mega-Duels challenge teams of Duelists to work together and compete against opposing groups.

New Duelists can brush up on their skills, and veterans can learn about the new Link Summoning game mechanic in Link Summoning Demos. And the Token Booth returns, giving attendees the chance to be photographed and green-screened into a Custom Token Card! Voice actors from the various Yu-Gi-Oh! animated series will meet fans on Saturday and Sunday, plus a special “Live Duel” performance Sunday afternoon. Meet the voices of Zigfried von Schroeder and Jean-Claude Magnum from the Battle City arc, as Greg Abbey and Oliver Wyman sign autographs and pose for photo ops!
